Our Mandate

The South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) was established in terms of the Natural Scientific Professions Act (Act 27 of 2003). SACNASP's primary mandate is to protect the public by ensuring that natural science is practiced by competent, ethical professionals.

A South Africa where natural science is practiced with the highest standards of professionalism, ethics, and competence for the benefit of all.

Mission

To regulate, promote, and protect the natural scientific professions in South Africa through registration, continuing professional development, and enforcement of professional standards and ethics.

Governance

SACNASP is governed by a Council appointed by the Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation. The Council comprises representatives from various natural science disciplines, ensuring broad representation across fields of practice.
